There are some sounds that simply belong to the Adriatic.
On September 25 at 6:00 PM, one of them is coming to Maslinica. Join us at Lungomare Maslinica Restaurant & Pizzeria for an evening of traditional Adriatic melodies performed by Klapa Intriga. If you’ve spent time on the Croatian coast, you may have heard klapa music before — perhaps without even knowing what it was called.
So, What Exactly Is Klapa?
Klapa is a traditional form of multipart singing deeply connected to Dalmatia and the Croatian coast. Traditionally performed in small groups, it relies primarily on voices coming together in harmony, often without instruments or with only subtle musical accompaniment. The songs tend to tell stories about the things that have shaped life along the Adriatic for generations: the sea, love, home, friendship and the places people come from.
And while klapa has its roots in tradition, it is far from something you’ll only encounter at folklore performances. It is still very much alive. You’ll hear it at local celebrations, summer festivals, family gatherings and sometimes simply when a group of singers decides that an evening needs a song. Perhaps that’s part of its charm. You don’t necessarily need to understand every Croatian word to understand the feeling behind it.
Adriatic Melodies by the Sea
For our Evening of Adriatic Melodies, Klapa Intriga will bring that unmistakable sound to Lungomare, just a few steps from the sea.
Settle in for dinner or a drink and let familiar Adriatic melodies become the soundtrack to a September evening in Rabac. No complicated programme and no need to know anything about klapa beforehand — simply come, find a table and enjoy the music.
Because while some parts of the Adriatic are best discovered through its food and landscapes, others are better heard.
