Bela Nedeja: A Traditional Celebration in Plomin

September 11, 2026

·

On the first Sunday of October, the historic hilltop town of Plomin celebrates Bela nedeja, a tradition that has been part of local life for generations. Taking place on October 4, the celebration is connected to the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the patron saint of the Plomin parish. The day traditionally begins with Mass, followed by a programme of music, entertainment and sporting activities.

Bela nedeja also has an interesting history. It was once an important fair day, when people travelled to Plomin from as far as Rijeka and Trieste to sell and exchange their goods. While the large fair itself is now part of the past, the celebration remains an important date for the local community. It’s a lovely opportunity to visit Plomin, discover one of eastern Istria’s historic towns and experience a tradition that still means a great deal to the people who live here.
