September is harvest season in Istria, and in Buje, that calls for a celebration.
From September 18 to 20, the town welcomes another edition of Grape Days (Dani grožđa), one of Istria’s oldest traditional celebrations with more than a century of history. What began as a celebration connected to the grape harvest has grown into a weekend dedicated to wine, local flavours, music and the traditions that have shaped this part of Istria for generations.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy wine tastings, wine walks and visits to local wine cellars, discovering both the wines of northwestern Istria and the people behind them. But Grape Days have never been only about what’s in the glass. The event brings together food, culture, entertainment and a sense of community, combining old traditions with the atmosphere of a modern Istrian festival. If you’re visiting Istria during harvest season, Buje is a very good place to raise a glass to it.
