This year’s Labor Day in Kršan traditionally brings the aromas of local cuisine and the sounds of Istrian music, and is especially festive because it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the event dedicated to the favorite gastronomic delicacy of this region.
Krafifest will be held on May 1, 2025 at the SRC Pristav playground in Kršan, with a rich gastronomic offer and an all-day entertainment program. Twenty years of celebrating the indigenous Istrian delicacy – krafi, a traditional dish from the Kršan municipality, will once again bring together hardworking housewives who will prepare this delicacy in various varieties – from sweet and savory to boiled and baked. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare krafi during an interactive workshop that will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., where experienced housewives will demonstrate the skill of making this simple, yet delicious dish that requires only flour, lard, eggs and cheese.
“Twenty years of Krafifest is a great achievement for our small community. This event has become a recognizable symbol of Kršan and an important part of the tourist offer of the entire Istria. We invite all lovers of good food and entertainment to join us in celebrating this significant anniversary,” said Roman Carić, Mayor of the Municipality of Kršan. The rich gastronomic offer, in addition to various types of krafi, also includes numerous other delicacies appropriate for this day, and you can also taste Vosilla wines. The cultural and entertainment program will last from 1 to 8 p.m., and visitors will be entertained by the I. F. Zlatela Cultural and Artistic Group, Ljiljani Cultural and Artistic Group, Dean Jadretić on the accordion, and the Alfa Time Band. The team from Žuti kišobran will entertain the youngest. “Over the past two decades, Krafifest has grown into a true gastronomic and cultural event that attracts more and more visitors from all over Croatia and abroad. Last year, more than half a ton of krafi was prepared, and this year we expect a record number of visitors and even larger quantities of this Istrian delicacy,” added the director of the Kršan Municipality Tourist Board. Admission to the event is free, and the organizers say that fun is guaranteed for all generations.
