Some wines don’t just tell a story—they define a place. In the hills of eastern Istria, that wine is Teran. Night of Šumber Teran is an event dedicated to bringing this powerful, deeply rooted local variety back into the spotlight—right where it belongs.
A Wine That Defines the Region
Held in the village of Šumber, this intimate wine event celebrates Teran, an indigenous Istrian grape variety known for its rich character, deep color, and lively acidity. It’s more than just a tasting—it’s a chance to understand why this wine has been part of local identity for generations.
Reviving Tradition Through Wine
Organized by the Sveta Nedelja Tourist Board in collaboration with the Municipality of Sveta Nedelja and the Trs Association, the event was created with a clear goal: to bring Šumber’s Teran back from the edge of obscurity and reintroduce it to a wider audience. At the same time, it offers visitors a new and authentic wine experience in a lesser-known part of Istria.
Taste, Meet & Experience Local Istria
Expect a relaxed atmosphere where you can:
- Taste Šumber Teran directly from local producers
- Meet winemakers and hear the stories behind each bottle
- Enjoy the simple, authentic charm of rural Istria
This is not a large-scale festival—it’s something more personal, more grounded, and all the more special because of it.
Why It’s Worth the Detour
Because it takes you off the usual wine routes and into a place where tradition still feels real. Where the wine isn’t just served—it’s shared, explained, and lived. And where one glass of Teran tells you exactly where you are.
