One of the first stops is something truly rare—a visit to Rovinj’s last remaining cobbler, tucked away in Zdenac Street. It’s a small detail, but one that says a lot about the town’s connection to its past. From there, the experience shifts from observation to participation.
Taste & Create: Hands-On Istrian Traditions
Inside the authentic tavern Spacio Matika, you won’t just sit and watch—you’ll roll up your sleeves and learn how to prepare fijoki, a traditional Rovinj dessert. The journey continues at the Batana Eco-Museum, where the story of Rovinj’s fishing heritage comes to life. Here, you’ll discover the importance of the batana boat and witness traditional skills in action—from repairing fishing nets to boat building and crafting wicker demijohns. Another stop brings you into the world of local spirits at the House of Rovinj Pelinkovac, where you’ll learn about the production of the town’s famous herbal liqueur, made following recipes passed down for over a century. To round it all off, at the Agrorovinj Association, you’ll take part in a workshop preparing Istrian supa—a rustic and deeply rooted local specialty.
