The Best Fish Restaurants in Rabac & Labin

July 30, 2026

·

There are two types of seafood restaurants. The ones with laminated menus, frozen calamari and someone outside trying a little too hard to convince you to come in. And then there are the ones you’ll still be talking about on your drive home.

Luckily, Rabac and Labin have plenty of the second kind. Whether you’re after a romantic dinner by the sea, a family-run konoba hidden in the hills or fish that was quite literally swimming this morning, here are the places we’d recommend again and again.

Kvarner Restaurant

Some restaurants become local institutions for a reason. Kvarner has been serving exceptional seafood for years, and somehow, every visit reminds you why it’s still one of the region’s favourites. Perfectly grilled fish. Rich seafood risottos. Platters overflowing with prawns, squid and shellfish that are made for sharing (or not—we won’t judge). The ingredients are always fresh, the portions are generous and every dish tastes exactly how seafood on the Adriatic should.

If you’re only planning one proper fish dinner during your holiday… Make it this one.

Capitano Rabac

It’s easy to be drawn in by Capitano’s location—but you’ll remember it for the food.

Overlooking Rabac’s waterfront, this restaurant pairs stunning sea views with exceptionally fresh fish and seafood that keeps guests coming back year after year. The menu changes with the daily catch, ensuring every visit offers something fresh from the Adriatic.

Come for lunch and enjoy the sparkling blue sea. Come for dinner, stay for the sunset and let a glass of local Malvasia complete the experience. It’s the kind of place where one meal can easily turn into an entire evening.

Lungomare Maslinica Restaurant & Pizzeria

If there’s ever a season made for fresh Adriatic fish, it’s summer. And there’s hardly a better place to enjoy it than Lungomare Maslinica Restaurant & Pizzeria. Fresh local fish, simple Mediterranean flavours and a terrace just steps from the sea—sometimes that’s all you need. Come in the evening, order the catch of the day, let the sea breeze do its thing and on some days you can even enjoy live music while the sky slowly turns shades of pink and orange.

Trust us—this is summer in Istria on a plate.

Konoba Rogočana

Most visitors never find this place. And honestly… that’s part of its charm.

Hidden just outside Labin’s Old Town, Konoba Rogočana feels like stepping into the kind of Istria locals hope never changes. Stone walls, green surroundings, a peaceful terrace with beautiful views towards Labin. If mussels are your thing, don’t leave without ordering them. Fresh, simple and packed with flavour. This isn’t the place you stumble upon, it’s the place you’re glad someone told you about.

Porat

If someone told us to drive twenty minutes just for dinner… we’d do it. Every single time.

Porat sits in the tiny fishing harbour of Plomin Luka, where the view is as authentic as the food itself. Every morning, local fishermen bring in their catch just a few metres from the restaurant, which means the fish you’ll be eating really doesn’t get any fresher. Inside, the atmosphere is modern and elegant. Outside, you’re looking directly onto the harbour while fishing boats gently come and go.

The biggest surprise? The prices. Considering the quality, they’re incredibly reasonable. It’s one of those rare places that still feels like a secret.

Let’s just keep it between us.

One Last Tip…

If you spot Catch of the Day on the menu, don’t overthink it—order it. And if you’re not sure what to choose, simply ask your waiter what’s freshest today or what came in that morning. They’ll usually be more than happy to point you towards the best choice.

Because that’s exactly how seafood is meant to be enjoyed: fresh, local and straight from the sea.
