Why Rabac Is a Great Place to Visit with Your Dog

Holidays are better when nobody gets left behind — especially the one waiting by the door the second they see a suitcase.

Travelling with a dog can sometimes turn into a long list of questions. Is the accommodation pet-friendly? Will there be somewhere nearby for walks? What about the beach? And, perhaps most importantly, will your dog actually enjoy the destination too?

In Rabac, the answer to that last one is pretty easy. Between long seaside walks, forested surroundings and plenty of places to explore beyond the beach, this little corner of eastern Istria works surprisingly well for a holiday with four-legged company. Here is why.

Morning Walks Come with a Sea View

One of the best things about staying in Rabac is how easy it is to simply step outside and start walking. The town stretches along the coastline, with promenades, quieter paths and plenty of greenery around the bay. Early mornings and evenings are particularly good for longer walks, especially outside the hottest part of summer.

And your dog probably will not complain about the view either. Rabac is also surrounded by pine forest and Mediterranean vegetation, so once you move away from the main waterfront, there are plenty of opportunities for a change of scenery.

There Is Plenty More to Explore Nearby

A dog-friendly holiday does not have to mean spending the entire time around the hotel. Labin is only a short drive uphill from Rabac and makes an easy change of pace, while the surrounding countryside opens up even more possibilities for walks and little road trips. Autumn is particularly nice for this. Temperatures are more comfortable for longer walks, roads and trails are quieter and inland Istria becomes a very good excuse to spend the day outside. The hardest part might be convincing your dog to get back into the car afterwards.

And Yes, There Is a Dog Park

At Maslinica Hotels & Resort, dogs have a little space of their own too. The fenced Dog Park, located behind the football field at Oliva Camping, gives them room to run around off leash, play and meet some fellow holidaymakers. There is fresh water, dog toys and plenty of space for an energy-burning session before the humans return to their much slower holiday schedule. Morning zoomies are very much allowed.

Staying at Maslinica with Your Dog

Pets are welcome in all Maslinica Hotels as well as Oliva Camping, its mobile homes and pitches. The hotels currently charge a daily pet supplement, while camping accommodation also welcomes pets with an additional fee.

One practical thing worth knowing before you arrive: dogs are not allowed on the Resort’s main Maslinica Beach. However, guests can take their pets to the sea away from the main bathing area, and the camping reception can provide information about suitable locations. There is also a designated dog beach around a ten-minute drive from the Resort. So bringing a dog does not mean giving up a day by the Adriatic — it just takes a little planning.

A Little Treat Goes a Long Way

At Maslinica Hotels & Resort they also like to make sure their four-legged guests know they are on holiday. Alongside plenty of outdoor space and the Dog Park, dogs staying with us can expect a little treat of their own. Because, realistically, they have been watching you order snacks all day – It is only fair they get some too.

World Animal Day Calls for Something Special

And on October 4, World Animal Day, they are making their stay even better. For that day, pets stay free at Maslinica Hotels & Resort — a little way of celebrating the guests who may not make the reservation themselves, but are very often the most excited to arrive.

So if you have been thinking about one last autumn escape to Rabac, this might be the day to bring the whole family. Leash packed. Treats packed. Favourite toy packed. Now you just need to tell the dog you are going on holiday.
